Hungry Caterpillar First Birthday Party

Hungry Caterpillar First Birthday

L is ONE! This past weekend we celebrated little L’s first birthday with a casual Hungry Caterpillar First Birthday party at home. The day was beautiful, we finally got to put our new patio to good use.

I had such a blast collecting ideas from around the web as inspiration for our Hungry Caterpillar First Birthday Party! I wanted to keep the costs reasonable, so we chose a few of our favorites to put into action!

We put together a little welcome table in the front hall and added some fun themed items to the favors for decoration. A giant caterpillar made of 16″ paper fans crawling overhead.

The caterpillar stuffed animal came from E-bay for a couple of bucks. I made two of the crepe paper No. 1’s out of left over card board from cornice boxes and a $1 pack of streamers from Dollar Tree. I made my own invitation using Power Point to match one of my favorite’s from pinterest.

Hungry Caterpillar Party Favors

Favors were baby food jars labeled “Caterpillar Food” and filled to the top with M&M’s. You’d be surprised how many M&M’s you need to fill this many jars!

Around the corner we had food and drinks set up in the Dining Room.

Loved the Chalkboard Milestone Poster and Caterpillar Cupcake Cake.

Thank goodness we had beautiful weather to enjoy the back yard and patio for games.

I premade some caterpillar on clothes pins and had them hidden around the yard for the kids to find scavenger hunt style. L’s friends and cousins are between the ages of 2-6 and everyone enjoyed the game.

Then each kid teamed up with a parent to transform into a Hungry Caterpillar. We used the same Dollar Tree streamers that made the No. 1’s earlier.
