Let’s talk chandeliers. With all the DIYers out there, and designers not afraid to use a pop of color in any space, it’s not surprise we’re seeing more and more demand for painted chandeliers in our Etsy shop. I’ve had a ton of comments and messages over the year asking me where I find my brass chandeliers, either new or old, to give a facelift.
House of Fifty is a blog, and publication featuring inspired spaces. This publication ins’t afraid of a little color! Thanks to the inspired room design by Kiki’s List, my Beaded Heaven chandelier and my shop get a moment in the lime light. Take a minute to flip through the pages online, or visit the House of Fifty Blog for more inspired spaces!
Have you been eying Serena & Lily’s Malibu Chandelier for your home? It is such a natural, simple colored piece. It is the different textures that really give it a great shabby chic, beachy type feel. At almost $900 it is a pretty serious lighting investment. But you can make it at home for 1/5 of that price, with premium materials, in whatever size and configuration you need. Here’s the full tutorial:
Ok, now that we have all the custom beaded chandelier parts and pieces together we’re ready to build! For a full list of materials check out Part I of the Beaded Chandelier tutorial. The project from this point can easily take a day or two. I’m lucky enough to have a fiance who doesn’t mind a ladder set up in our living room for a day or two while the build was in progress So let’s get started!
I’ve had my eye on all of the gorgeous beaded chandeliers floating around out there, so I was more than excited when a Camilia from Effortless Style Blog came to me and asked my if I could do a build for her nursery similar in shape to this Malibu Chandelier by Serena & Lily. She wanted a more “Hollywood Regency” look than the au natural inspiration and chose green beads and orange leather cording for her accents. Anyone can do one of these builds themselves with a little time and patience…and a little know how, which this tutorial will hopefully give you!
Shabby Chic Chandelier Tutorial
I came across this brass chandelier at a local thrift store and knew it would be just perfect for a client who was looking for a little smaller fixture with all the charm of my larger Shabby Chic Chandeliers. She was marked $18 but I talked my friend there down to $10 and took her home.

Chandelier Candle Cover Tutorial
Accessories for a chandelier?!
Why of course!! I’m constantly working on chandeliers every week in addition to my other fun projects. This week I sold this darling chandelier in my Etsy shop. I love it when clients think outside the normal offerings of my shop and allow me to create custom chandeliers just for them and their space.
This week’s chandy has been upcycled from a brass 5-light fixture which has been painted Green Apple and customized with turquoise seed bead candle covers. The glammed up candle covers cost all of $6 to complete and if you’ve already got a refinished chandelier in your home, it will definitely customize it to the next level!
